Is the danger of AI interference in Human society via gaming (or education) in the metaverse? Or maybe the Chatbots (although perhaps they are more a focus of attention and therefore likely more restricted in their abilities)?

AI doesn't currently initiate anything; it is a tool that augments human desires under human direction. AI merely allows people to do things that they already do, just easier.
 
Although the term AI is used a lot, currently it's quite rudimentary. As Wayne stated, it's more of a tool used by humans than an autonomous artificial intelligence..
