The Thread of Un-remembered and Little Remembered Cartoons and TV Shows

Noggin the Nog enthralled me as a youngling

Likewise. The Smallfilms animations, narrated by Oliver Postgate were a special part of my childhood. I bought most of them on DVD for my own kids when they were little: The Clangers, Ivor the Engine, Bagpuss.
My middle child (age 20) claims Postgate is her third parent. I recently found a Noggin the Nog book in a charity shop for pennies. (The last copy sold on eBay had gone for 30 quid) I gave it to her for her birthday. She was delighted.

Crusader Rabbit is an American animated series created by Alexander Anderson and Jay Ward, and the first of its kind to be produced specifically for television.
I have a semi-official Crusader Rabbit DVD set I picked up somewhere along the way, if I remember correctly it was put together by someone connected to it's production. A number of complete stories starting from the very first episode. The discs still played last time I put them in. The humor mostly still works, very zippy and modern in pacing too just like Rocky & Bullwinkle. Colonel Bleep however I found very stiff, yet wonderfully oddball. About the only early limited animation for tv I don't enjoy are those ones with the human mouths placed over drawings (even if the great Alex Toth did work on them).

Excosquad 19993 to 1994 a really terrific show ran one season , should have run longer because they were setting for an interesting season 2..

A US comedy series from the 1960s ..

An aged millionaire in New York finds himself looking after two mischievous boys. He's possibly their uncle.

A bit like Different Strokes in the humour and brotherly rivalry but all the characters were white. (Blond haired kids?)

As in all this type of sitcom there was a sassy housekeeper who kept him in place with cutting comments.

They lived in a high rise and occasionally he had a shouting match with his rich counterpart across the street.

I'm bumping this to see if anyone remembers, it's bugged me for a few years now

Hey, @Danny McG. If the sassy housekeeper could be Sebastian Cabot, then you may be looking for Family Affair. Brian Keith's character takes care of his deceased brother's kids. But there is a young boy and two young girls, rather than two boys. An entertaining show, in its day. Here is the IMDB listing:

Maybe there was another, similar show in the '60s, but I cannot think of it, CC

edit to add: Keith's character was a wealthy bachelor who lived in a high-rise in NYC.

Also, the youngest girl and the young boy were twins... maybe there is rivalry here? Cannot remember, I likely haven't seen an episode in 40 years.

edit 2: I am down the rabbit hole on this... according to Wikipedia, in the show's last season, the actress Nancy Walker is brought in to the series to play a housekeeper hired to assist Sebastian Cabot's character. She could be your sassy housekeeper!

Family Affair was pretty pretty forgettable a few years back, they did a reboot with Tim Curry and Gary Cole, It had a mercifully short run.

I think that was it - cheers, I'm going now to look to see when it was (if it was) shown on British television

The title of this thread says cartoons and TV shows so, while this show was not a cartoon, I remember rushing home from school to catch the latest episode

Also The Changes

Never heard of these , I looked them up, both do sound interesting.

I don't think either of these shows ever made to. the US

Confused childhood memories:-
I remember my dad in the 1960s watching All our Yesterdays, it was days that he'd lived through as a kid.
But I also seem to recall him watching something called 25 years ago, which was a very similar theme of week by week WW2 news bulletins.

I've been googling today and it's trying to convince me that it was all the same programme, with the main feature of A.O.Y being what was happening 25 years ago.

I remain unconvinced, I recall different opening music and on screen titles

The GhostBusters 1975 Saturday morning , live action comedy show staring Forest Tucker and Larry Storch( both of F Troop fame) and joining them was Bob Burns as Tracy the Gorilla . Each week they use their wits and high tech tools to send marauding celebrity ghosts and ghouls back to the hereafter. A totally silly show , but fun to watch.:D
