The Singularity Trap - Dennis E. Taylor

Greetings. Recently I started reading and listening to The Singularity Trap by Dennis E. Taylor. I found the book in streaming audio file format at links published below. However, the complete audio book appears to be digital CDs or files that are exactly the same size and around the capacity of a CD. I did not post these files on the site, but found them useful so I could read the book and then listen to it as well.

The website(s) offer no breakdown of where each chapter of the book begins in each of the 11 files. I’m posting the chapter start points so you can jump to a file and chapter if you are reading the book and listening to it as well.

I hope it helps…

It appears that providing URLs to audiobooks on sites like fictionaudiobook and audiobooksfreewebsites may be against the policies of CSF&FC, and thus were removed from the post above. I'm not sure how listening to posted content outside of this site's domain is deemed a violation. However, I went to the Terms and Rules section of CSF&FC and found the following with my highlights below:

"You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, risks copyright infringement, encourages unlawful activity, or otherwise violates any laws. You are entirely responsible for the content of, and any harm resulting from, that Content or your conduct."

To this end, I will not post direct URLs to audiobooks hosted on external sites in the future.

My impression is that the sites you were trying to link to are pirate websites simply stealing and re-issuing paid-for content without permission. As Dennis E Taylor is one of our regulars, appreciate that I am going to very much err on the side of caution where there is doubt, in order to protect our members. This is especially as, so far as I'm aware, his audiobooks were published directly through a special deal with Audible for use on Audible.

I left your post up because I presumed you might not have realised any of this, and figured it might be helpful advertising for Dennis and his works anyway.

I downloaded a copy from those famous pirates Kindle Unlimited without needing to make any further payment. Probably your sites are financed by other publishers, who probably resent Amazon's attempts to put them out of business.

I thought that it was an excellent story. The author has moderated his view of military organisations since telling us about Major Ernesto Medeiros but it is still interesting to compare an IT specialist's view with an ex-military writer such as Bruce Bretthauer.

PS. I just noticed Parson's review Review: The Singularity Trap by Dennis E. Taylor which I can recommend.

As you might notice this site is run by @Brian G Turner and is self-funded, by him and by those of us who are Supporters and not by corporate money. I too am a member of Kindle Unlimited and they pay their authors and do not pirate. They might not pay enough and there are plenty of people who feel that they have done a disservice to the publishing world, but they are doing nothing that has been proven to be illegal.

One should never joke on the internet as you will always be misunderstood. My reference was to the first poster's sites giving free copies and my tongue in check suggestion was that these might be financed by other publishers and book sellers as Amazon's restriction that books in the Kindle Unlimited program can not be sold elsewhere is designed to harm any competition.
