Mercer secretly brings Eugene to Max and Yumiko. He is said to be hiding in an apartment until further action has been clarified. Meanwhile, a group led by Maggie, Negan and Daryl take the train to take down Pamela for good. They bring the missing people back to the Commonwealth. There, an angry crowd is already protest in front of Pamela's office and demanding.
IMDB score: 9.0 Runtime: 44 minutes.

The stormies are blind. They should have seen the real faces among the horde, as you can see part of the Ricknation family almost at the front row. But that's the thing, in a way this feels like the first season or rather parts of the first four seasons, where we saw the rise and fall of the Governor and Rick going absolutely mental.

It honestly feels like that this time the doom is coming because there's a story end in the next episode and the Commonwealth is proving that there is no cure for the problems of the Old World.

The family has been a major theme around the years in TWD and it has been the core structure that has kept things going while the Dead has been shambling around. It's true that there is no more 17 million people watching these episodes every time, as a lot of them have dropped out over the years. Yet, we are all part of one large family of Kirkman's world fans. And with the advance of the intelligent Homo Mortis things are progressing increasingly towards a world of necropolises and the undead.

There is no future as we know it in the Kirkman's world. It's different. The Old World is no more as it's mostly just large, unattended graveyards that we like to call the necropolises. Thing is nobody talks about it, even though a writer could have talked about it in the narrative and the characters on how their world is changing.

We are going to see more about it in our ruffian's adventure into baton land, where to my understanding things look different than in the States. Angela Kang's leadership in this project has really turned the tide for the AMC flagship product. It's time for them to renew things and go deeper into the evolving Kirkman's world...

Let's see how the end looks like.

Judith, Rick's offspring picking up dad's gun, mum's sword, the hat and the tradecraft of all these years is the most likely candidate to make to the future. She's a survivor, just like Clementine in the TWD narrative games. This is the end times and it changes people even if she admitted that she's "Grimes too."

She's going to look after Archie, now that the day, "when everything changed forever" has arrived. And everyone were leaving Alexandria "to get the bitch." So as always there is no peace, no negotiation, and certainly not smoking pipe because an atrocity demands a response.

Judith wanted to be part of the last fight because it was what "mum and dad" had done. Somehow they managed to get the train running again, turned around, sent back to other direction... all while splattering the dead with its weight.

Princess was the only one who questioned can they drive it, but seeming someone figured it out, making the strike more exciting one in the long, long while. It honestly felt like we were back in the Assault of Prison and not in the Strike into the Commonwealth, even though that's what was happening. All for the showing that nobody can f with the Ricknation.

Negan redeemed himself by admitting that he was prepared to sacrifice himself for his wife, and the family for the Ricknation, because it was a righteous thing to do.

What a surprise. Mercer flipped and delivered Eugene to his lover. Yumiko couldn't believe her eyes. Nor the words that were coming out from the general's mouth, when he told Eugene and Max to lie low, while he was going to commit some business. In the office.

Pamela was amazed that people were rioting on the result of the court case. The last riot of the Old World, for the last governor of the Old World, all ready to lead the most massive horde seen in the history of the TWD to the walls of the Commonwealth. She called the plan as B-17, suggesting that somebody had thought out a plan and wargamed it on paper.

What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

The Zombie Survival Handbook suggest that the humanity deals with the threat, and don't allow it to exist for the sake of the survivors. All must be part of the family and fight for one goal.

It surprised me that Mercer understood that at the end and he was willing to go on with the strike "to remove Pamela from the office," all while the mother of all hordes were approaching the walls, while the Commonwealth were put under a lockdown. Does that remind you of something?

What puzzles me is why he didn't know about the B-17 being in effect? Still he moved people from guarding the train tunnel to deal with the horde allowing Ricknation's strike team to move in.

Pamela didn't recall the troops even though she was given an option, just when Daryl moved his troops in, while Carol split in her usual way off from the group.

Mercer on the wall couldn't understand how a jeep could get swarmed, because he had not encountered the smart zombies. The biggest surprise came with Eugene finally dropping his balls and dealing with a stormie that came looking for him in the most violent way by bashing his head in with a mallet.

Lydia was the bravest one for getting bitten, losing her arm, and getting stuck in the RV while going through a fever without the meds or IV.

What didn't surprise me was the huge tunnels under the commonwealth that lead directly into the Pamela's offices, where her internal security troops were laying in the ambush. Bullets were fired just Milton arrested the General under orders of treason.

What could go wrong?

Like Pamela picking up a gun from fallen soldier, shooting Judith, and effing up the whole ambush from their side.

I loved when Eugene played commando and came to rescue as the climbers breached the walls. The Dead had become better fighters in the evolution as they not only breached the walls, they also opened the gates.

Pamela order stormies to guard the estate and let the Dead "flood the lower wards" where our family were stuck with the evolved troops. Daryl got split from the group, while carrying Judith that was going to meet her family.

What an ending.

The evolved walkers put a new and far more deadly spin on things and, a scarier possibility , what if they evolve to the point there they can think and plan? That would be a horrific development. All in all, im glad I came back for these last episodes , epic stuff.

Will Judith survive, or is she being carried to a final, poignant departure? It seems that those episode-opening summaries she's been narrating foreshadow a lingering death scene.

Watched this episode last night, I really enjoyed the second half of this season - anyway, so the walkers are evolving, lets discuss that a little:

We have seen:
  • Walkers carry teddies
  • Walkers climb fences
  • Walkers using Rocks to smash things
  • Walkers try door handles for the house they used to live in
  • Walkers attempting to open doors
  • Walkers opening gates
  • Walkers climbing walls/objects
  • Walkers picking up a dropped knife
  • Walkers whispering
The last one (the walkers whispering) I am convinced we just saw in this episode, ill also add to that - we saw Beta hearing the walkers, at the time we assumed Beta was batshit but looking back, did we just witness the evolution a little sooner?
What does everyone think the in-universe mechanism is for this? I would assume evolution of the pathogen and how it interacts with human brain function - anyone think we will see more of this in the new spinoff series?

I think it'll get continued in Daryl's own series and in the Fear. Thing is, viruses mutate, and we know that in TWD "everyone has it." We also know that the mutations are crucial form that they need to do, and eventually it either dies or transforms to something mighty. So it's very plausible.

28 Months Later?
They are actually planning to do it.
