Could someone help me find this horror short story?

Dear all,

I'm trying to find a short story my mother once gave me to read.

It was about a man describing a creature that has come to live with him and his wife. The narrator describes it as a terrible and loud creature that consumes their lifes as it gets stronger and bigger.

Spoiler:

In the end it turned out that this creature was their own son and it was all a metaphor.

Could anybody tell me something about this book? I would really be very happy to find it. Sorry for my English! Thanks!!
