Thanks to a book by Daphne Sheldrick I've just read - which included a lot on rescuing orphaned animals in Kenya especially elephants, I've come across the Sheldrick Trust. I was cruising round their really interesting website, and came across their wish list. It isn't like an Amazon wishlist - you are still giving money - and they reserve the right to use it for something else at the same location if necessary - but it costs them £480 per day to buy the special milk for their orphan elephants.

A day’s milk for the Nursery Herd
<p>Your gift can help us provide 192 bottles (324 litres) of specialist milk so that we can feed all the rescued orphan elephants in our Nursery for an entire day. Milk is freshly mixed by the Keepers, who hand-feed the elephants 2 bottles each every three hours, day and night. </p>
