Do You Think Science Fiction Literature, Movies , TV Series, etc have Created the Modern World As We Know it?

In 1863 Jules Verne subsisted a novel to his publisher title Paris in the 20th Century. His publisher basil told him the premises of his book were preposterous and he shouldn't Publish it and he Verne didn't . The manuscript sat in sage till 1989 when one of his defendants came across it. The novel is set in 1963 and in the book Verne made some raters starting predictions. He predicted Fax machines ,Subways, automobiles elevators , electronic music And some of the problem of the 20th century such as homelessness.
It's good to know that Verne is to blame for homelessness.

There are a lot of ideas going both ways. While this is obvious - Science Fiction writers writing about science - The representation of scientific ideas by Science Fiction writers often distorts those very scientific ideas. Here is a great article about the difference between how recent films have described the Multiverse verses what the multiverse concept means to actual scientists - From a University Physicist.

Wouldn't be a riot if in some parallel universe Star Trek and the Federation were real.

Or perhaps a Bizarro world.

He says humans aren't the center of the universe but then he includes humans in other multiverses. Just because we are in this one doesn't mean we are in other multiverses. I wonder why he didn't mention that possibility or maybe I missed it.

I like the idea that the multiverses are components of the whole whatever it is. The idea of digital space might be saying that there is seemingly a lot of empty space all around us. Some multiverses could physically intersect slightly but have far more not in common with each other, including the amount of space used. Space is composed of sections which are generally insulated from each other and invisible to each other, and are positioned right next to each other. The number of sections could be 1, 2, dozens, millions, even infinite to our way of thinking. The more independent sections the closer the multiverses are to each other. The intersections exert a give and take force which can allow what is happening in one multiverse or happening in one part of a multiverse to effect what is happening in other connected multiverses and vice versa.

Perhaps there are a thousand elements and each multiverse shares some in common and has others not in common with others. The combination of elements would make them unique, so our carbon based one is not the rule, nor the exception, just one possibility.

It would be funny if back holes were leaks into other multiverses. Like a shell game where we think all that matter lost to a black hole is inside the black hole when it reality the force that keeps the black hole open is misread as the lost matter. In the multiverse world black holes could be feeding the formation of new star systems, but not necessarily the type of stars we see. The multiverses could be inflating and deflating each or or parts of each other. Inhaling and exhaling to keep the whole system balanced.

I don't find that this video presented any support for the initial statement, that the multiverse is real. To say that every quantum mechanical event clones a whole, new universe seems to require the infinite creation of mass and energy. I also wonder why this only applies to probabilistic events at the quantum mechanical level. If all probabilities do not need to be accounted for at the grander scale, why would probability act differently at lower levels?

Douglas Adams summed up the issue rather nicely:

“The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy's definition of "Universe":

The Universe is a very big thing that contains a great number of planets and a great number of beings. It is Everything. What we live in. All around us. The lot. Not nothing. It is quite difficult to actually define what the Universe means, but fortunately the Guide doesn't worry about that and just gives us some useful information to live in it.

Area: The area of the Universe is infinite.

Imports: None.

This is a by product of infinity; it is impossible to import things into something that has infinite volume because by definition there is no outside to import things from.

Exports: None,

for similar reasons as imports.

Population: None.

Although you might see people from time to time, they are most likely products of your imagination. Simple mathematics tells us that the population of the Universe must be zero. Why? Well given that the volume of the universe is infinite there must be an infinite number of worlds. But not all of them are populated; therefore only a finite number are. Any finite number divided by infinity is zero, therefore the average population of the Universe is zero, and so the total population must be zero.

In Star Trek lore we are 2 years from Nuclear war. Lets hope we don't meet them very soon.

In 2026, World War 3 fully broke out which caused the eradication of 600,000 animal and plant species and 30% of Earth's human population. The war decimated Earth causing nuclear winters, the destruction of most of Earth's major cities and natural climate. Radio Isotopes from nuclear weapons were ejected into the atmosphere exposing all life remaining after the war to dangerous radiation.

Who's to say whether the Star Wars Galaxy is real or not. Perhaps the stories and messages from the events that took place long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away are just arriving to Earth and "Someone" is simply picking them up and dramatizing them for Earth's entertainment...

Not unlike Galaxy Quest...

Adams had a very unique ways of looking at things. :D
