I'm new to this site and hope that someone will be able to help me find a book I remember from the 60's or 70's. As I recall, it's about a firing of nuclear weapons into the Arctic oceans producing a great release of CO2 from the ocean bed. This then resulted in the warming of the seas which caused hurricanes not to dissipate but to circle back and grow in intensity, resulting in the destruction of the US coast. Would seem to be quite a predictor of current climate issues. Please excuse me if this subject has previously been discussed as I'm not familiar with searching for relevant threads.

So likely this was by an American author and published by an American publisher?

One of these 2 I think:

The Wind from Nowhere, JG Ballard, 1961
Mother of Storms, John Barnes, 1994

The Ballard fits the time but I think the Barnes is closer to the described plot.

Tachyon,

Those both seem to fit the general theme. I'm going to order both of them and see if one is it. Appreciate the help.
