Perchance to Dream is the best collection of his imo. It contains "The Vanishing American" and "Free Dirt," which are my favorite.
 
Seconding (thirding?) Perchance to Dream. I've read a bit over half of The Howling Man, too, and it's good.
 
Probably should have pointed out there's a fair amount of overlap in those two collections.
