This ought to be of interest to many of us here:

Marked on my calendar, thanks. I didn't know this magazine. I'll be submiting to this special call and to their general submissions calls in March and September. They also announced a flash-fiction contest. I'll be on it if they don't charge to submit.

Some useful information: they pay £40,00 for each 1000 words and the word-limit is 6000 words. They're ok with simultaneous submissions.

Thank you! I've sold to them before and they were nice to work with (response was a little slow at the time, but that's to be expected and may have changed)

Thank you for posting this. New writer here. This sounds very interesting. Love the chance to blend fantasy and sci-fi elements. I have posted lots of writing over the past year on my own website, but I've been struggling to take the first step of actually submitting something for any kind of publishing. This one is really calling to me. I think I'll take the plunge and get working on something to submit!

Hello! Novice Writer Here! Just another note of gratitude for posting about this submission call. I actually did it! For the first time, since beginning this journey into a possible writing career last June, I challenged myself to work within another's guidelines and abide by their deadline. It was scary and I almost gave up a few times, but my story is submitted. If anyone else sent something to Shoreline of Infinity for their fey-themed issue in September, I hope my story is printed next to yours! Now, on to the next challenge.

Congratulations for this! Feels good, doesn't it? My story is also under consideration for this special issue. I didn't have to write it just for this issue though: I had a suitable piece in my trunk. I wish you good luck and endurance to keep strugling.

Also, if I may, let me give you some advice for submitting to SFFH magazines: don't write to special calls very much. There's a high chance of rejection (as always), and when you get rejected you keep a very specific story. You and hundreds of others, who will submit these specific stories to other magazines. The editors will be like, "why did I just receive two hundred sci-fi fairy tale retellings in a single day?" :ROFLMAO: And then they will google it and find that call. Either let that story rest for a few months, or rewrite it.

That makes perfect sense! Thanks for the advice. I'll take any I can get! The theme was fun though wasn't it? It kind of called to me. My submission could very well end up as material for my own website/blog, but that's ok too. I do want to get published and eventually make a little income, but I am super conscious of how difficult it is. So, I'm prepared to play the long game and just keep at it because I love writing!

blah - flags. So many flags.
I had the good fortune to beta read one of the submissions to this, and was very impressed at the quality. Good luck to everyone submitting, but remember -these things are a lottery. You don't know what else has been submitted, what the editors are looking at and how they all marry up together. If nothing comes of it, get the story in somewhere else, or move onto the next thing with a new notch on the writing journey. :)
