While Mother, Father, and the children face hostility from their new atheist collective, Marcus sets out to fill the walls of an ancient church with Sol's worshipers

I'm going to ignore IMDB score, because it can't be 9.4. The runtime is the standard at around 43 minutes.

It is so strange to see an actual prison colony up and running after the final of last season. In fact, it is still a mystery to me of how this series got another chance after it weirded whole community of critic with the flying snake.

We had no idea that the atheist had advanced so much or maybe hadn't, and all they had done was that they'd nicked a colony ship and gone after one of the candidates themselves. Still, it's good to see Mother and Father, even if they're a bit banged up and in a need of service.

Why the snake didn't eat them if it's a biomechanoid? Surely some android can pass as a meal. The thing that freaked me during the powering up process was hearing the AI in the command position. We know from too many examples that they're not to be trusted in Aliens universe.

I'm still not sure. at what time slot all of this slots into because there's so much that's more Prometheus then an extension of BladeRunner world. Mother revealed that the Atheist had put their trust into the Collective Ai's and they were planning to allow them to run the world, if they won the war. And that is a hair tearing moment, when we know that the Ai's are not to be trusted.

Funny thing is, none of the Ai's in Ridley Scott's universe are to be trusted. Even David betrayed his Creator, while Mother is still googly eyed over the hacker. Yet, both of them were in an agreement that the whole family should join the collective, Father included.

The curious thing is that Father, while he amazed to be alive, was puzzled by the fact that "Number Seven had died shortly after he was born."

"Come along children." Brave new world. Tune in Lost in Space music. This time, while they are settling down, I hope they'll pay more attention to everything that's around them. We cannot have another case, where the family suffers instead of prospecting.

Mother promised to make things up for Father. It's just the atheist weren't the ideal people Mother had envisioned. Instead they were just normal humans, lead by an Ai. So for Mother to prosper she really needs to expand her horizon and understand the whole thing, as she promised to Marcus Ex. And Cambion.

It's just she was given a task of investigating, instead the Ai put Mother to the teach the orphans, and Father back on same old duty, and it was Father, plus the children were finding things.

Meanwhile "3000 miles from the Tropical Zone," a lone "terrorist" is turning to an alien. He ain't viking, but somehow he'd managed to arm himself with a crossbow, some cryptic hack bolts and huge amount of luck for taking down a flier.

How did it go down, I really don't know and I cannot understand either how it remained relatively intact, when the flier came down ... after one shot. It's even more incredible to think that after the flier confirmed that it had damaged the propulsion system on the crash, it put out considerable amount of speed and a not a single cloud of smoke.

Could we have two of those, please? And a manual.

Actually make it whole load of manuals because there's things like that energy dart he used to escape from the acid waters. What on Earth was that thing?

Then there are these alien glyphs, next to rusted pieces of strut. We know that Marcus found Sol and it was an alien, but finding more is just so weird. One could lose their mind, but he has already done it. Many times over. And yet, he has man with a destiny for finding all these things as if it was meant to be.

Cambion said that he thought Sol was evil, while Marcus is taking everything as a sign from a God. To be honest, maybe it is that way as you cannot explain things in traditional way or even by applying logic.

There is another episode that came out as well, but I'm not going to post about it until tomorrow.

This wasn't too bad, considering the low expectations generated by the flaming wreck that was season one. Even the flying necroserpent didn't seem quite as ridiculous as it did on its birthday.
I am starting to wonder which side to favor. The collective takes its orders from an authoritarian AI. The "terrorists" follow a mad prophet channeling a mystical deity. Neither is especially appealing.
The tropical zone -- with its acid seas, giant whirlpools and abundant food sources -- is a more interesting setting than the bare existence environment of the first season.
I'll continue watching.

Like you both, I came at this with extremely low expectations and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't so bad. That's about as good a recommendation that I can give. A 9.4/10 score it isn't. I does have some really interesting ideas though. I tried to forget about last season and take it on it's own merit, but I immediately wonder about the Tropical Zone all over again.

If the Tropical Zone is so much more productive, please, why did they spend 10 years eking out an existence in the Desert. They had a lander that could have easily covered the 3000 miles.

Then there is the "snake" or "indigenous creature" as we are calling it now. It left it's skin behind but no other trace. "Oh, it's probably dead!" So, let's not concern ourselves with it. Not important. There's probably only one on a planet of this size anyway. Nothing to see here. Move along now.

I find it all so poorly executed. For example, how much time has actually passed from the last episode to the androids being woken up. Campion has gone through puberty, and all the children look more than a year older. Were they held in a brig for the whole of that time? They've never been outside and tasted the fruit? And lone "terrorist" Mithric guy has been out wandering all that time just waiting for the right time to shoot his bow?

Yet, they have had time to set up the prison "collective". And what a fun place that is with the strapped on bomb packs, the repetitive spoken lines as a punishment, and the "Mithraics go home" abuse.

I think it's my disbelief that it got a second season that is stopping me from getting properly invested in the story. There are so many unexplained things that if it were to be cancelled (as has happened to me many times before) I'd never find the answers to. Do I really want to care?

I'll continue watching.

I too was mystified by the area, and in back of my mind I was wondering when will they get poisoned like it happened in the season 1. Tropical zones on Earth are full of wonders but also diseases that are very usually lethal in nature. As robots, Mother and Father will be totally fine, but the people are going to struggle.

The reason why they didn't fly there in the first place is a mystery and I can only put it down to Ridley Scott's decision and the reason that our parents aren't humans. They don't need warmth and comfort like we do.

I know Dave, I know. In regards of the children getting bigger, we just have to turn our brains off and go with what they've given us. There is nothing we can do about it. Children grow so fast.

Marcus and his bow bothers me a great deal and I might come back to it on the following episodes.

I am really confused. There is a big mystery to be solved here, many actually. At a guess the master mind AI is behind everything.

One of the girls is still pregnant so not much time must have passed since S1 yet Ragnar Lothbrok is a hunted terrorist. Where did the Atheists learn about him, or am I forgetting something about S1. TBH the birth of the serpent thing shocked me so much it wiped all of S1 from my memory(except for pregnant girl).

And all the artefacts. Was this planet colonized before?
