New material shows zero heat expansion

I think that's a bit unfair, @.matthew. :) Scientific recording sometimes reveals phenomena outwith the parameters of an experiment. Which is similar to someone going for a walk in the woods and finding a lovely pool to swim in which they never knew of before. Can you guess I trained in a science department at uni? ;)

Thanks for posting this. It's very interesting, even if this orthorhombic Sc1.5 Al0.5 W3 O12 looks a costly material. Scandium and Tungsten are both rare, and expensive. But, looking at the material might suggest ways to replicate some of the properties.

As to the SR-71, I've heard some of the pilots talk about their experiences. The Blackbird was an absolute monster until it hit Mach 1. After it went past Mach 2, it was the most graceful beauty you could ever be in. Built for speed and altitude, nothing else.

I love pure science. Very interesting.
