Plot - young boy has to leave tribe/village/community. Start of book he leaves in his canoe to go down the river Think he is green skinned Runs into two children, girl and boy. Possibly brother and sister Something about a stone or sword that acts as a portal to somewhere else They have a quest to do through the portal that's like a touchstone or touchstone or keystone Focal point of the book is the portal She thought it was called the touchstone but never found it
