Artificial versus emotional intelligence

Hi, any writers and readers out there with thoughts/feelings about artificial versus emotional intelligence in sci-fi? This theme is at the heart of my writing. I feel I'm picking up on a theme running right through a range of writing, from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein through Isaac Asimov to Philp K Dick and Ursula Le Guin - so I'm very keen to hear any ideas sci-fi fans might have on this?

In brief, I would identify Artificial Intelligence as rational reasoning. I would identify Emotional Intelligence as how to present rational reasoning.
