When Dakota goes missing, Strand sends Alicia and Charlie on a search and rescue mission to find her. Meanwhile an unlikely ally provides a new possibility of escape from Virginia.

Note this is a midseason finale!

Could it be that Dakota is the latest member of Fear gang? I am putting this on the fact that she again escaped and she also tried to talk Strand on committing to a coup. I personally have talked about the coup being a possibility, but I doubt it will happen because there isn't a critical mass of unhappy people.

We know that in our world that is exactly the time when anarchy blossoms, but in the Kirkman's world, there isn't much of choice. You either commit to living under your own terms, or you accept somebody else laws as your own. People hardly knows what is really happening in the world, and there certainly aren't better places they could compare their system against.

All we know is that the distances are too great and there are too many dead prowling the wasteland.

There was no firing. The bodies didn't show gunshot wounds. I want to know how one can take out an armed Ranger on horses without letting out a sound or making a wound?

It is a mystery that Strand didn't check, even though I'm pretty sure he know the protocol on the field. Why is that Ginny's General is so damn ignorant to their rules? Deliberate or a mistake?

He claimed to Alicia that the convoy was attacked by the same people who hit the Tank Town. Which is kind of strange because of the method that were used. Why is that they took out the group and not the general?

Alicia said that whoever hit the convoy and the petrol operation is the kind of people she want to use to take out Ginny. Although she also added that she wants to find out who they are first, but it's delightful to see that the Warrior Princess hasn't lost the mission.

She is still stubborn and doing her own thing, even though she's on a mission set by Virginia. Saving Strand's bottom must be the last thing to many of them. After all he is kind of hated man.

"Dr Frankenstein I presume?"

Man, taxidermy. It's kind of last place I would expect to see operational in the Kirkman's world, but frankly once you've been introduced to the art, you cannot stop practising, especially if you have so many subjects and nobody saying no.

When I first saw the setup I thought it's another psycho. The whole thing was confirmed by Alicia's kidnapping. Ed claimed that he was doing the conversion job for scaring people, but the fact he crept on Alicia and knew that the whole shot was going to do exactly as what it was meant to do.

Then he found time to tie her before going to tell Dakota about what had happened. It's all lies.

Although there is the hypothesis that some can control their urges. It's just everything Ed was doing rubbed me wrong. Maybe it is that I've seen too many Criminal Minds to not suspect something being like that rather than taking them on face value. Do you agree?

It is also strange that Ed didn't knew who attacked the convoy even though his lodge if full of memorabilia from previous hunts. A hunter in classical terms knows what is going on in their hunting grounds. And the fact is that he is able to capture a Dead without killing them speaks highly about what he's capable.

I cannot think any tranquillizer that would be able to knock down a walker. Not any that we know of, but since they're all chemicals then maybe there is a solution. It's just personally I doubt he could have figured out a way.

It didn't surprise me that Alicia figured him out as we all remember what her stepdad was capable of doing.

The ham set. As soon as I saw it I thought about it, but didn't guess that it was going to act like Chekov's Gun in the play. Well done AMC. The whole episode is super creepy and definitely loaded with horror!

I was sacred as soon as she started dialling that Ed would find out and hell would break loose. I loved that Alicia was smart enough to make a deal with Virginia, but I cannot figure out how Ed couldn't hear the contact.

I loved even more that Ed played Finlandia to bring in his creations.

Does AMC know who I am behind the nick?

What surprised me was the twist in his story. Virginia took out his family and he started making the weird dead to keep people out of his property.

Oh Charlie, you clever girl. Love you even more. Not only did she drug Ed, but she knocked his gun out! Alicia is the one Ed confessed to and if you look closely at the moment his creations broke in, he looks delighted.

Killing his family was the only thing that he regretted, but I assume Ed knew at the end what he was and what he was really capable as he embraced the Dead. I rest my case.

What surprised me was Morgan's Deus Ex Machina entry into the play. The girls would have been effed at upstairs, but in their shoes I would have used force on breaking the boards.

I'm also glad that he's smart enough to use Dakota as a bargaining chip. I know that he promised to not give her out in the exchange for the gang, but a promise is something that Ginny will listen to. Is Strand going to be the Inside Man?

I was more amused by this episode than frightened. It would have worked better as a Halloween week episode than a mid-season finale, and not even too well as the former.
Instead of featuring Frankenstein, the mad scientist, in a spooky castle, it offered a Ed, the mad taxidermist, in squalid hunting lodge. All that was missing was lightning flashes in a dark and stormy night. I half-expected Alicia's exploration of the house would have her finding Ed's stuffed family.
I didn't buy Ed's idea of scaring people away by adding antlers and other animal parts to the walkers. Aren't walkers alone scary enough?
Ed finally surrendering himself to his creations to save the others was pure melodrama. Why did he summon them to the lodge? He must have thought they were music lovers.

I wondered about that, too. Maybe an injection to the brain would do the trick. That is, after all, the walker Achilles heel.

It never occurred to me that Morgan took out the whole ranger escort team. I agree that it seems unlikely.
I guess that they just want us to know that Morgan is still a dangerous killer, despite his dedication to his latest pie-in-the-sky utopian vision.
For a moment, I was afraid that he would take out Alicia to protect his safe harbor plan.

Strand going to be the Inside Man?
I am so ready to have Strand die that I would volunteer to murder him myself. His faux redemptions have lost all credibility. I see no reason to believe whatever grand scheme has in mind would benefit anyone but Strand.

I also found it unlikely that Morgan did that alone, or how he even could, but maybe it was a gas attack, or some chemical attack? I say that because it had only just happened when Strand arrived, one walker was just turning, and yet there is no blood or obvious injury. As you say there was no gun shots or explosion. Also, the road was wet with something and had tyre tracks, and it looks unusual. Something very strange happened, and I expect we will find out at some later point.

Morgan said he didn't attack Tin Town. Everyone assumes the same gang did both. Either there is some other gang, or Morgan is lying. Why would he lie?

I also don't understand why Morgan thinks his place is safe. Either he had some secret defences or he has lost his marbles. I think it is all connected.
"Dr Frankenstein I presume?"
I thought "The Island of Doctor Moreau" or else "Dexter."
When I first saw the setup I thought it's another psycho.
I wasn't convinced that he wasn't even at the end. Locking and barricading all the doors, doing the 'Dexter' injections - only someone quite unhinged could do what he was doing with the dead bodies. So, it doesn't really matter whether he started doing it before his family died or afterwards as a result.

Maybe somebody cocked up in the prop department or they were meant to add something digitally later on, but somebody forgot to brief the artists. I could understand a barrage from a tranq gun, as I assume Ed would've been a practising plenty during the apocalypse. It would explain the silence or at least push it towards the plausible territory.

Morgan was never a hunter. He did track Rick to North, but I doubt that he would have been effectively down the whole group without receiving back some fire.

Morgan said he didn't attack Tin Town. Everyone assumes the same gang did both. Either there is some other gang, or Morgan is lying. Why would he lie?

I don't know, but I know that he's no longer called Morgan, according to his own words at the beginning of the season. Even if everyone keep referring him by his name.

I thought "The Island of Doctor Moreau" or else "Dexter."

Dexter did cross my mind, but there has been so many psychos in this series that it's quite unbelievable. Maybe they would survive better in the Kirkman's world than normal people, because they don't have any qualms on doing things. It would hard for them to enforce the rules and to avoid acting on their urges.

I also found this episode amusing, would love to know how Ed the taxidermist managed to control the walkers long enough to tie them down, surely the drug wouldn't work on them?
Was probably those who Sherry is with who took out Tin Town, then again there is also Morgan's unknown rescuer.
Morgan taking out all those rangers, little hard to swallow.
Strand, is he really siding with Virginia or does he really think he can take her down from the inside? Knowing Strand its somewhere in the middle.

A little far fetched but could Morgan's saviour be Madison?

A little far fetched but could Morgan's saviour be Madison?

You must have seen the headlines. The producers are not confirming anything, but Madison rescue is a possibility. They certainly have spoken about it, but nothing has been set in the stone. Thing is, why do you ask about that now?

It was Alicia mentioning the stadium that got me thinking of Madison, no haven't seen any headlines about her returning.
Kirkman's world is the master of the far fetched.
Glen should never have survived the dumpster.
Then fear, Daniel survived fire, they all survived the dam blowing up, Morgan should be a walker, shot and left for the dead to feast on.
Anything is possible.

So here goes,

Meanwhile, Fear the Walking Dead's showrunner Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss have also changed their tune in regard to a possible return for Madison. Originally, they were quite set on the character having died off screen when she torched the baseball stadium in Season 4 to help her children escape a horde of the dead. Now, they seem more optimistic.

"There's always a chance," Fear the Walking Dead co-showrunner Ian Goldberg told ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview. "There's always a chance. We can't say much else about who saved Morgan, other than we saw the note. We saw that it was someone with an ulterior motive who said that Morgan still had things to do. It's someone that Morgan doesn't know. We know that from the note, also. I think when we do reveal who that person is who saved them, that note is going to take on a whole new level of resonance in terms of what it means."

And

Asked by Insider about chances audiences will see Madison again, either in flashback or present-day, showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg took a beat before Chambliss said it's "definitely something we talk about."

When Insider's Kirsten Acuna asked point-blank if Madison is dead, Goldberg answered, "Well… we never saw her body. And Madison herself said, 'No one's gone until they're gone.'
"

There is also Kim's interview somewhere, where they asked about Madison's fate and she said something along line, "I didn't knew it was happening until it did."
