Hi...thanks for the Ad.....I read a paperback back in maybe 1960......I told of a man/boy that finds a donut-shaped ring that turns out to be a perpetual motion machine??...It generated much heat in using it, and the only thing he could think of to coat it was Dried on Cornflakes.....really, its not a funny type of story...I would love to read it again....
Anybody?? Please?

This sounds like something Theodore Sturgeon would write.

However. not in any of the books I have(that I know of).

Also--this might belong in book search threads but that requires an admin to achieve translation.
Here's a few cornflakes though...until they can get to it.

"Say Bill can you play me a memory
I don't really know how it goes,
But it's sad and its sweet
And I knew it complete
when I wore a younger man's clothes."
--Billy Joel
