Best little Sci-fi series I have ever read from Isaac Asimov is the Lucky Starr series. All 6 volumes. Have read them at least 3 or 4 times over the years. Too bad they failed to make the series into a television series. Would have beat Star Trek into the ground!

Welcome to the Chrons.

I read several of the Lucky Starr books and they were great. I should read them again. If you want something in a similar vein check out the David Grimes series by A. Bertram Chandler or the Dominic Flandry series by Poul Anderson.

Who can forget things like The Bloater Star Drive . what a hideously sick concept that was. :D

a standalone book I would recommend

The High Crusade by Poul Anderson This book is a great read and it too is hilariously funny ! :D
