Is there life floating in the clouds of Venus?

Interesting how the popular media keeps picking up on research that is "still in pre-print form and requiring the scrutiny of peer reviewers". Which, to me, makes it a non-story.

The phosphine discovery, on the other hand, was fully peer-reviewed before publishing in a major journal (Nature Astronomy).

It appears that the team from Leiden University re-analysed the data from just one telescope and rejected it in the grounds of signal-to-noise ratio. However, from memory, the original research was done on data from two telescopes and that would reduce the signal-to-noise ratio problem.
