I've just treated myself to downloaded extended editions of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It wasn't all that expensive either, at £44 for 6 films. Not bad value. Now just to find the time to watch all of them.
I have all the extended editions on BluRay. Introduced my son to Middle Earth a couple of years back over Christmas. Yes, the Hobbits aren't a patch on LOTR, but they are fun adventures, and still several notches above many other fantasy movies. You've never experienced joy until you've sat with a kid laughing his head off at the bouncing barrel / escape scene.
