I read this book YEARS ago (mid 70's to mid 80's). Probably checked out of school library or bookmobile. The book was about a contest to win a large sum of money. I THINK it took place on an island but am not sure. Contestants came and stayed together in a house. One of the contestants was a woman who had a sick child and needed the money for that. A man there cared about her (fell in love with her?). They had to go through trials. One of the trials involved her taking LSD. I remember her trip involved cactii. I THINK she and the man fell in love or at least partnered up somewhat and I believe one of them ended up winning.
