I wonder why Forster (A Passage to India, Howard's End, etc) is so little known as also a fantasy author. By my count, almost half of the short stories in The Collected Tales and in the posthumous volume The Life to Come and Other Stories are SFF. There are fauns, sirens, statues coming to life in a museum (and, um, having an orgy), an omnibus that flies to the source of all stories, visits to heaven and to hell, a spring of eternal youth inside a hollow tree, a world that consists exclusively of gardens and hedges, not to mention a full-blown Wellsian SF novella in which everyone stays physically isolated but communicates by way of screens (hmm...). Anyone else read them?
