Roger Zelaznys Amber series has some of the characters going ino and out of Amber via paintings and walking the Pattern of Rebna.

Red Dwarf Back to Earth has the Dwarfers travel to Coronation Street and eventually directly talk to the writer of the series.

Think these two might qualify.
