I read them when I was around 10 or so and I can remember parts of it but never the name of one of the books or even the series it was.
From what I remember they were mystery type picture stories - little to no words where you were the detective trying to find clues to solve a puzzle.
I remember one of the pages it was an overview a ship and you had to find a leak (the vegetable).
It would have been released in the early-to-mid 1990s and the front covers had thick white borders around them.
That's, sadly, all I can remember.
