The wonder and disbelief will leave humankind alone. They will stick with us until the last member of our race. With Eros moving "unimaginable" speed off the course everything seem to fall apart. Nothing we know and nothing they know can really explain the impossible.
But that's the thing. We often cannot explain something even though things do break the logic and reasoning. And instead of embracing the event, we get scared just like Avasarala's command at the UN.
Man, if I'd been part of the conspiracy that made the protomolecule study possible, I would have spilled my beans instead of blaming Mars for something they clearly cannot posses.
If vessels could move the speed Eros moved across the solar system, the people in the Expanse would have long time ago head out into the deep space without a fear getting trapped at the sub-light velocities. It just wouldn't happen. But someone out there could have developed a technology that enables protomolecule. And that is the thing, because in the Expanse universe, there are no aliens. No news about exoplanets or new discoveries in the infinite space.
What is funny is how same ideas about nuking the bloody asteroid develops in all corners of expanse universe. Personally, if I'd been in Detective Miller's magnetic boots I would have found a way to chuck the nuke and the bail out in the empty space, hoping for rescue within the limit of my oxygen tank.
Miller's demise is that he already punctured his space suit and lost part of air supply. So without a refill a rescue is nearly impossible and using Eros machines is highly questionable.
The moment, he were still in the Eros casino and heard the nuke's were heading in the target ... man, just another impossible situation and just like Japanese in the Second World War, Miller couldn't give in.
And neither could Holden do much else at Eros second acceleration. Like Captain Ahab doing 50 000 g burn is something you never do because the weight just would crush you, magical juice or not.
Most people lose their consciousness at under 6 g.
Not them.
Luckily I'm willing to accept Detective Miller's depiction of the events than lose this series to a disbelief. Sometime you just have to give into the fiction and let it float on it's own impossibility.

In fact, watching the Expanse is like reading best of Asimov's production. You just accept the visuals as the truth. This is best SciFi the small screen can offer. So watch it, if you can.
