Accountability with creative writing

I'm a bit late in on this but it was interesting to see what people's views were on this. I have a part-time job in teaching but I've given up my full time role to see if I can make a success of writing. My wife works full-time and enjoys her work, otherwise I might feel bad because my pace has changed to something less manic. I still feel driven to 'achieve' something every day, though. This comes from within. Maybe that is a good thing because it makes me work hard whether I am writing or, now, trying to promote my book.
