Dave, yes that would make sense. If they are not a cult then the Jesus killing may not make sense in retrospect. If you want to take over a village you don't expose yourself in front of several fighters. As CTG says the practicality of how they survive amongst the Walking Dead has to be glossed over. They would really only be able to join for several hours. Perhaps longer occasionally if they eat and sleep a lot the day before. Perhaps the ones who go amongst the Walkers are drugged. How whispering from inside the horde can change direction more effectively than an alarm clock (without the whisperer being killed) also should be glossed over. The Walkers are in kind of a confused state.
