Isn't Yaz a police officer?

Just watched the first episode - for the first time. Yaz was still in cop training.

I don't know about all that but maybe she could have mentioned she was a cop.

Ditto. To me, that was the biggest 'WTF?' in this episode; huge spiders were easier to believe than a British cop just letting someone do that without at least pointing out they're a cop and it might be a bad idea to be doing it in front of them.

Also, the ending of the episode seemed a bit of a cop-out, because the Doctor didn't solve the biggest problem in the episode. And it wasn't entirely clear that they'd solved the main problem at all: everyone I was watching it with was trying to figure that out when the credits rolled.

But I have to say this season is growing on me somewhat after my initial worries. It's not the best I've ever seen, but it's not that bad, either.
