I may live in Yorkshire but I'm a Scot
I follow Feist on Facebook, he has posted he is currently in talks about a TV adaptation of Magician. It is only in the early stages and nothing is set in stones.

On the one hand I'm excited, on the other I've a feeling of dread that it will be completely ruined.

Press release

Seems pretty official to me...

Fingers crossed, as Feist was the author who got me hooked on fantasy. Was the first I read of the genre.

But... I also echo your worry. I feel bad things coming. It better not be a repeat of what happened with Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series when it got adapted to TV. Terry Goodkind even came right out and stated that he hated the TV adaption of his books... Source

As long as it is not done by MTV or the studio that did Legend of the Seeker.

I'm hopeful for this. Presumably if it is successful they will adapt some of the other midkemia books. I haven't kept up with the releases, but there were a few that would be great on the screen, potentially.
