I was about to post this very thing. I am absolutely gutted by the loss of Carlos Ezquerra. Dredd and 2000AD have been part of my life for so long I can't remember a time when it wasn't. A phenomenal talent and a really nice man to his fans. I need to get my head around this news. RIP.

Ah, sad news - more on this in the Guardian: Judge Dredd co-creator Carlos Ezquerra dies aged 70

I grew up on Ron Smith's artwork for Judge Dredd, so when Ezquerra returned to the series it took a while to get used to. But he drew the Necropolis story arc I raved about in a recent post, and I can't imagine any other artist having being so effective with it.

Gutted by this, although I'm still chuffed to bits he accepted my Facebook friend request a few years back. Yes, I know it's not a real friendship but I did have a couple of online 'conversations' with him which, to a lifelong reader of 2000AD, were priceless.
