Just for the record, my 1918 hardcover edition of 'Gods of Mars' by E.R. Burroughs, has the following dimensions:
Exterior: 5-1/2" x 7-5/8" x 1-1/4"
Pages: 4-7/8" x 7-3/8"
Misc.: 362 pages, 350 pages for the story, 83,000 words approx., font size unknown (small), justified text, no additional spacing between paragraphs or dialogue.
I only mention it in that it is a
wonderfully 'exterior sized' book. Perfect in my opinion. However, the font size and spacing I personally don't care for, preferring a space between both lines of dialogue and especially paragraphs. If it was much thicker (>1/4") it would not be as ideal.
What I will say is that I'll keep it in mind 'if' I ever publish anything (looking for something close in paperback), although font size and spacing would take precedence over the exterior size.
