I dont have too much to go on but heres what i have.
At the start of the book the main character is a slave/indentured servant at an inn. He sets fire to the inn and escapes.
While on the run he runs into a clan warrior who ends up being his uncle? I believe who has been searching for him for years?
The clan males are warriors that are mercenaries/caravan guards? They wear some sort of kilt.. wear their hair long on braids that are a sign of status.. good with swords..
At one point in the book while the main character and uncle are traveling the uncle dies and the main character cuts his heart out and wraps it in a bundle to take home to the clan as a funeral rite..
