The Salticidae are famed for their jumping ability, and can easily be coaxed onto a fingertip (where they give the impression of intelligent curiosity by staring back with their large eyes). It's no problem to encourage them to jump off.
Freda is a jumping spider, just rather larger than the normal length of 6mm.
AND - were spiders the first lifeform to dwell in the upper atmosphere? Little web parachutes... riding the breeze, long before anything like a bird came flapping along?
I'd been working on one but it's about a cockroach (not jumping...doing something entirely different). It wasn't working but maybe I need to resurrect it
Spiders are incredible creatures though. By far my favourite subject when it comes to taking photographs
