Tick Tock, tick Tottenham, tiki you, tiki me too. This is me. You too. Us too. Our words. We have a story. No: we have a deadline. No story yet. Ha! But we WILL see our name in print! Words. Will anyone read them? Words. Doesn't matter. We have to fill the page. With words. We have thirteen more words ... to write. What will they say? Ha! What will they say? Ha ha ha! Ha!

I carry you in my heart

Cali placed the tiny shoes back in the box with the other clothes. His first blanket still lay in her lap. She closed her eyes and brought it to her face, willing the past into the present.

Six years seemed so long, yet it was no time at all.

Returning the box to the loft, she swore once more that she would not visit it again.

She’d leave those memories here.

She was no mother.

Family Secret or Sometimes the Apple Does Fall Far From the Tree

“The people are oppressed, my son, they need a hero . . . as the Fox was.”

Alexandre shrugged disdainfully. “If he still lives what could such an old man do?”

“Perhaps another will take his place.”

Alexandre straightened a velvet sleeve. “I am late for the ball. With your leave . . .?”

“Yes, go.” Alone, his father opened a secret panel in the wall, took out a mask and cape.

After all, he told himself, old was not dead.

Recognition

No two objects are ever entirely the same
How much less so two people, or lifeforms?
Similarity's never as close as we claim
Is 'equals' mathematical fiction?

In the distance a crowd's a homogenous mass
Closer in faces gain in diversity
Features aristocratic or else working-class
Exaggerated by perversity

Lack of identicality fosters identity
Uniqueness ubiquitous separates all
Dopplegone dopplegang, identical,
Fate twinned, coexistence unthinkable
Before being revealed as illusion
We're all individually presentable

Lust For Glory

My first is in the ocean blue
The dauntless sailors crossed
My second set in colour's hue
The rainbow's arc embossed

My third is hid within plain sight
If only you could see
My last enveloped in twilight
Find it and you find me

Who am I?
