Where to start?

I am a huge Sci-fi fan but BSG is one of the few I have never seen. Often times the pilot episode is not the greatest on shows like this, so if you where to pick an episode for a newbie, which episode would it be and why?
 
For the newer edition? You really need to watch the whole series, including the "pilot" film. Just get a copy of Season 1 and it should be there. It makes for decent watching, if a little slow-paced at times due to the amount of characters it introduces.
