A saga with flying stones

It's a saga where peoples study flyings stones (with holes in them) they use in they're everyday life.
They are a great library in wich they move with trolley.
Also a city built on a giant flying stone and a monster in.
The MC is a young boy wich study in the library.

I read it in 2012.

It's not this one, but I remember the story was focused on the flying stones.

Here are a few I can think of. Not in French though. One closest is the edge chronicles. Lots of floating rocks and lots of books, sure I remember I library in one of them.

But I'm sure it was in French because I didn't yet know how to read in English at this time.
