Stephen Hawking

Gifted, and gifted at the communication of science - though he did love the attention!
A very important part of British culture - RIP.
I'm one of few who finished A Brief History Of Time (I have a degree in physics!) and later bought The Universe In A Nutshell, which is, perhaps, a better read for the general reader.

I just now read about this on a link to New Yorker magazine of all places. I think the man was brilliant, and we will be able to enjoy his work for years and years to come. Interesting info from that New Yorker article:

"Stephen Hawking delighted in reminding audiences that he was born three hundred years to the day after the death of Galileo, on January 8, 1942. Imagine how Hawking would have reacted could he have known that he would die on March 14, 2018—the hundred and thirty-ninth anniversary of Albert Einstein’s birth."

A Physicist’s Farewell to Stephen Hawking

This reminds me of a biography I read of Albert Einstein.
In it was the reproduction of a newspaper cartoon.
It was simply a drawing of Earth with a giant plaque on it reading "Albert Einstein lived here".
I think the same thing could be said of Stephen.
