Looks good, but I'm 4000 words short and the minimum is 70,000, 'no exceptions.'

The trick is lots of acknowledgements. What about the people who served you in the supermarket? You can't finish a book if you starve.

I can't decide whether or not to do this. So little time, and I haven't finished editing the blasted thing, as I got horribly distracted by a crime novel that's leaving corpses scattered everywhere. I suppose I could send in what I've done so far and cobble together a synopsis. It won't get past the first stage anyway, I'm sure.

Don't. Really, just don't. If you get an agent in the future you'll have taken AR off the table for something you know isn't ready

Have to agree with Jo on this one - don't. Save it for the next open door. This open door is the first time I've seen them ask for the full novel, which makes me suspicious that they've been burnt by a promising novel that didn't deliver.

They mentioned something like that on one of their launch videos.

I have 110,000 words. The question is whether I can edit it into something useful by the deadline :D

Anyone else entered? Here's the details for those who are unaware:

Open Door 2017: Send us your novel! – Angry Robot

I've submitted THE CURSED MAN to it. Did get a full request from Jo Fletcher Books earlier in the year, but they ultimately rejected it. Fingers crossed for this time!

I've put one of mine in and got the acknowledgement email back with a copy of my sub attached - that was seriously reassuring, given my flaky internet connection.(y)

OK I'm in. I need to write a damn synopsis, so I might be begging for help here in the next couple of weeks!

Ah, the fast track... I've been slogging away at the synopsis for the last month or more. As for the one-line summary...

If I haven't had any luck with agents by the deadline, I'll probably submit.
