(Found) I can't remember this trilogy...help

The trilogy too place in a future setting. There was a war against an alien species taking place in space.
The small human fighter ships were built of nanobots and driven by a contained point singularity and we're capable of near c speeds. The main character was a pilot from an unfavorable status.
The main details I remember were the fighters bwing built of nantites and able to reconfigure their shape according to the pilots needs. Pilot suits were similarly constructed.
I can't remember titles, author, anything. Please help.
 
The author wrote the trilogy as as side project. Most of his books are set in the same scenario but are about the "space" Marines instead of the Navy in this trilogy.
