Given that there is talk of co-authoring on another project, I think I would explicitly say, in exactly those words, that this will not be a co-authoring situation. Just to cover yourself there.

The one that this question was about, yes. You responded to clarify what you want done, and that you will give him credit for his editing, but I would add the explicit statement that there is no co-authoring involved. Since you're discussing co-authoring for other projects.
