Discussion Thread -- April 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

Many thanks Cat's Cradle! Thrilled, I am
How'dhhave thought? A 75 word hoedown and I'm loving it!

Thank you for the listings, Victoria, Starbeast and Peter V. Also, thank you for the review, Shyrka. It made me giggle.

Most importantly, my best wishes for a speedy recovery from your surgery, Parson.

Listings and vote to follow...

With great difficulty, I whittled down my short list:
Who is the prey now? - Talysia
Sheathing the sword - Dave Barsby
What could possibly go wrong? - Mosaix
It was thiiiiiiiiis big! - Stable
Your move - HoopyFrood
And the winner is.... ratsy
What mother doesn't know - Culhwch
Youthful enthusiasm - Chrispenycate
A collection worth six million - HazelRah
All the World's a Stage - Stuart Suffel

Then it was almost down to the rôle of the dice, but enthusiasm won the day:
Youthful Enthusiasm - Chrispenycate

@Cathbad - Most accurate description of certain NFL players' personal past-times.
@Joshua Jones - Cleverest dating game story, with Heijan Xavier-the only other category competetor-coming in at a distant second.
@johnnyjet - Most 80's nostalgiac.
@HoopyFrood - Most grown systemically relative.
@Culhwch - The vote getter. Simple and silly. There's something about proper English schoolgirls being mass murderers that makes for fun fiction.
@HazelRah - Best 75 word (can't tell if it was coincidental or purposeful) metaphorical summary of Perfidy by Ben Hecht. Seriously read it. It's non-fiction, and far more disturbing and horrifying than any novel...ever.
@TheDustyZebra - Nuttiest
@Stuart Suffel - Most able to pull off sincere seriousness in a 75 worder.

BigJ - The Human Engineer VOTE
Cathbad - The Brawl Bowl
David Barsby - Sheathing the sword
Ratsy - And the winner is……
HazelRah - A Collection Worth Six Million

Great job BigJ. Great idea and a clever title.

I think there may be a reason for that...

Now just don't forget to vote -- you have until the 28th. Same rules as the 300 except it's only one vote here.
Lol. Im not saying the votes aint enjoyable...
But yeah, interesting exercise - a mix of prose n poetry, conveying a full arc in so small a word count.
Btw, I DID vote. For myself. B-) ;-)
(I've a few to read yet, before the big V)

Oy...I had meant to have a top ten, and just noticed I posted a top nine. I should have listed TDZ's very nice story, so apologies to TDZ. :)

Runners up:
TheDustyZebra - A Royal Affair for a nice twist on the classic.
Littlestar - Craps! for D'n'D humour at its best.
Luiglin - The -grand- idiotic old game atleast partly because the minion I imagine is small, yellow and wearing goggles.

Vote basher-beheader-and-storer-in-closet:
Culhwch - What Mother Doesn't Know for an original hobby.

Luiglin - The -grand- idiotic old game atleast partly because the minion I imagine is small, yellow and wearing goggles.

He may well be under the robes but only the Minion knows and he never tells... especially on a first date.

Voting this month is roughly akin to selecting one's favorite tooth, but, in appreciation of my 4th bicuspid...

Short List:

BigJ: The Human Engineer
Talysia: Who is the Prey Now?
Ashleyne: I’m a Stalker
ErikB: Dwarves, Dice, and Unbelievable Fantasy Games
Culhwch: What Mother Doesn’t Know
The Judge: Not Even the One Eyed King?

Favorites:
Mosaix: What could Possibly go Wrong?
Chrispenycate: Youthful enthusiasm
Stuart Suffel: All the World’s a Stage.

The Vote:
HoopyFrood: Your Move

Thank you Starbeast, Cathbad, Parson (Best of luck with your surgery today!) Cat's Cradle, and Heijan Xavier for the mentions and Luiglin for the vote. I wasn't expecting for my first story in this forum to resemble a competitive story, much less actually get a vote. So, it is extremely encouraging to be receiving this kind support.
