I really liked this:

Mnemonic Possession

Mr. Bottum could have added to his essay a discussion of marginalia; but it's probably better that he kept focused on personal libraries, shelving, and memory.
 
I didn't read the whole article (the practice of splitting articles over multiple pages should be abolished) but I did like

I've always been a shelver. An organizer. I want my books chronological when I can, and alphabetical when I must.

We chrononauts are a rare breed, I think. :)

On the main point, I agree with him because I'm also a physical person but I was mentally defending the virtual people before he finally did start to address it. They may well have their own, um, analogs.
