I think that for me, anyway, the problem I have with Scifi & fantasy TV, etc. is that, while reading the same story in a book, I become engrossed in the world I am imagining or visualizing. While on the screen, no matter how impressing the special effects, I often find myself laughing at the thing. Perhaps because it takes no effort on my part to visualize it?
