Sci fi book where a meteor hits a town

Read a book in the 80s where a meteor had supposedly destroyed an American town, leaving a huge crater. This crater becomes a tourist attraction and 50 years later, people start appearing from nowhere and tourists get injured by objects appearing. The town wasn't destroyed but blasted into the future and its reappearing bit by bit.

Any ideas of the book title and author?

Vintage season - Kuttner and Moore?

It's not quite the same plot. Time travellers from the future arrive in town to watch a meteor strike destroy a town. It was made into the movie - Timescape.
