Hi, Extollager.

That's from October 2011 and I joined the forum the following year. I mention that because the last time I reread "The Crowd" -- it's included in the Vandeermeer's The Weird -- I thought of it as Bradbury's Leiber story. It's urban setting, the observation of the people, all struck me as very Leiber-like. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

About "The Homecoming" -- that is a favorite of mine. The oblique examination of anyone being an outsider in their own family still resonates for me.

I really should reread TOC cover to cover sooner than later.

Thanks, Extollager.

Randy, I don't know if you could do better than The October Country for Hallowe'enish reading.... although the one about the Matisse poker chip has never worked for me.

True, and I've been recommending it to others for years so I should follow my own advise, but it may not happen until next year.

I've read most of the stories from "The October Country" more than once. Ray Bradbury is so good at creating atmosphere for some truly creepy stories.

All great stories in that Anthology which included The Jar which was adapted for television on The Ray Bradbury Theater.
