13 science fiction authors on how Star Trek influenced their lives

May be you would be interested in reading these short pieces about how some scifi authors remember being influenced by the Star Trek :)
Enjoy !!
It would be interesting to see an article about the whole host of authors and John W Campbell influenced Star Trek. Star Trek borrowed whole hog the world building that was done on the pages of Astounding , mostly, starting in 1938 when John W Campbell took over editing the magazine.
Roddenberry acknowledged this , early on when the TV series started.
It is a foundation that seems forgotten in modern times.
Some of the classic authors are represented like Ted Sturgeon (two screenplays) , Harlan Ellison, Fred Brown.... couple of others.

Didn't Isaac Asimov have a strong influence on the original series?

Also, I recall the episode collections were penned by James Blish -- in a world without home video recorders, these were my only way to relive the original series once it ended in the uk...
