Okay so my memory sucks honestly guys. I've been searching for a book that I read when I was 16 and I can't recall the author or the title. It's a book about a genetically modified beehive that takes over people's bodies in a small town. I remember two scenes very clearly. At one point a girl and boy go to hide in some bushes and the bees come out of one and into the other. And at another point the main hive creates a stinger from a girls fingertip and kills a dog. That's all I remember... can anyone help??

Helistrom's Hive is not genetically modified as such - just selectively bred. And the 'hive' is subterranean, more like an ant heap than a bee hive. And they eat everything.

They're modern consumers and they believe in recycling then?
