Does anyone know if this is the previously discussed variorum of the revisions?

Derrick posted an image of the ARC of the fourth volume on Facebook a few days ago.

Any updates? My three volumes are acting as if they have a phantom limb ;-)

According to Joshi's latest blog entry:

Currently my time is largely taken up with (a) preparing an index of proper names for the Hippocampus variorum edition of Lovecraft (which will be published in Volume 4 of the edition, containing HPL’s revisions and collaborations), and (b) editing and annotating HPL’s Family Letters (which will include his letters to his mother, his two aunts [Lillian D. Clark and Annie E. P. Gamwell], a few postcards to his wife Sonia, and sundry other letters).

And from S. T.'s latest blog entry:

Otherwise, I continue to work on (a) Lovecraft’s Family Letters (containing letters to his mother, aunts, and others), and (b) a complete index of proper names to Lovecraft’s fiction, keyed to the new variorum edition (including Volume 4, containing his revisions and collaborations, which should be out later this year or early next). This index is, amidst the inevitable tedium, proving to be rather amusing in some senses. One could fashion a really, really hard Lovecraft quiz along these lines:

  • Of the stories At the Mountains of Madness, “The Shadow out of Time”, and “The Haunter of the Dark,” which one does not mention Antarctica? (Answer: At the Mountains of Madness! Strange, but true: in that novel only the adjective “antarctic” and other such formulations are mentioned, but never the specific term “Antarctica.”)
  • In what work is “Father Iwanicki” (a Polish Catholic priest in Arkham) first mentioned? (Answer: The discarded draft of “The Shadow over Innsmouth” [1931]. Otherwise, he is mentioned in “The Dreams in the Witch House” [1932].)
  • Where does Lovecraft mention Poe’s story “A Descent into the Maelström”? (Answer: In a footnote to “The Transition of Juan Romero.”)

Here is what Hippocampus Press answered to a question on FB regarding the fourth volume of the Variorum:

It's coming in January as a paperback only. The CM Eddy estate refused our generous offer to license their four stories, and sued us into the bargain... so the planned hardcover state is cancelled. If this disappoints, sorry. We are disappointed too.
