"The Oceans are Wide" by Frank M. Robinson

[Frost Giant]

Anyone remember this story? I thought it was great. It's another one that could easily be made into a movie or miniseries, but these days it's largely forgotten. I came upon it in the anthology book Starships.

Well, Frost Giant, don't know if you are still checking this thread after so long, but I was just googling this story wondering if there was comment or discussion of the story somewhere, and found your comment.

Yes, I remember The Oceans Are Wide, and I also saw it in Starships. Such a memorable story. I just went looking for it because I was trying to make the point to someone that humans needed some level of stress and struggle and challenge to lead successful, fulfilling lives.

Anyhow, yes, great story.
