Good grief! How bad was that? I cannot possibly count the ways.
  • Glowing Espheni eggs that spew hungry hatchlings right out of Alien

  • Hal's under-fire marriage proposal to Maggie

  • The English-speaking vengeful Espheni Queen igniting in a fireworks display more brief than that of a standard lawn sparkler;

  • Pope's reappearance (although I liked his final words)

  • Matt writing the history of the war

  • Anne's alien resurrection (sorry, I couldn't squeeze out any tears during the few minutes she remained “dead”)

  • Weaver in a suit!
Instead of thanking fans for watching all five seasons in the ending credits, I think an apology would have been more appropriate.

The best part of the finale were the two trailers for second season of The Librarians. Nov. 1! Yeah!

You forgot Ghostbusters: "Important safety tip."

A rip-snorting finale that was totally encapsulated from all that had gone before. Hard to visualize it as relating to the entirety of the five seasons.

But I do agree that it will be good to have The Librarians back again.

Farewell Falling Skies... you won't be missed...

Was a very weak episode, but really, the entire show has been weak. I have to admit though, I'm very surprised the show actually made it through all five seasons to finish the story, and I'm impressed I managed to stick with it all that time. I guess so much time invested I just had to see it through, but I was absolutely disgusted with how bad this final season was. It reached a record low, even for Falling Skies... well, it could be worse; still better than Under the Dome...

I'm only glad that I haven't watched Under the Dome then. I'm really disappointed that they couldn't actually have a decent ending. Only what we expected, I suppose. I agree completely with what @REBerg just said though I did tell you we hadn't seen Pope's body. However, walking all that way to find Tom Mason just to sit down and die behind him in pure spite! We knew that the deus ex machina was going to make everything okay, but it was all even more contrived than I expected, and over in half an hour, to allow an equal amount of time for the continued melodrama with accompanying patriotic songs.

Who were the delegates in tartan kilts and baldrics?

And one other thing: What is it with Cochise and his I didn't tell you about that because I didn't think it was important? First it was the Queen, and this week it is the super-soldier egg hatchlings.

And one final thing - Ancient Alien Visitors :(

Right. Who was it that was nasty enough 1500 years ago to evict the first invaders? The Franks? The Visigoths? The Persians? The Byzantines? The Buddhists???
Well, whichever group did the deed, dining on the Espheni queen's darling daughter was her motivation for the entire second invasion and sacking of Earth. Never mind the original intent to take the planet's resources, Queenie was just out for revenge.
Considering that her death meant the instant end of the Espheni race, one might think that coming to war-torn Earth and hanging around the Lincoln Memorial without guards were some more questionable decisions on her part.

Yes. How convenient for us.

And how convenient for that pair of 16-year-old high school sophomores who were writing the last season's scripts.:)

RBerg, ouch. Not inaccurate just ouch. I thought seasons one to three had merit then, sadly, they lost their way. I can only assume that the head guy, there's always a head guy, had a seizure or something. Pity really. But of course we had to see the end didn't we.

"seizure":LOL:

Those two lads may have gotten out of detention for the duration of the writing project. They're probably back to picking up litter on the school grounds by now.

Yeah, this was one of those series that got me hooked with a great first season, so I stuck with it through the not-so-great and the not-even-good seasons, hoping it was going to get back on track. The opening episode of the final season promised to finish strong, but then the episodes wandered off into Incoherenceville and never returned.

Oh, well. As a certified couch potato, I know the risks of going into any series. Sometimes, all I get out of it is Cheeto-stained fingers.

Falling Skies had a weak first 3 episodes but then was pretty good till end season 3. Last night's episode was a disgrace. It was a like a very poor Soap Opera. With all the buildup there was surely good prospects for a solid finale.
Reberg outlines a lot of the plot failure very well. I love the Aliens movie but it says something when 5 minutes of very mediocre copying from Aliens is by far the best part of the final episode.
Two characters died who had only appeared in the last few episodes and they made it seem like a major occurrence. Oh and Pope finally died. They could have shown some of the main battle that the Mason's were not taking part in. The fight at the start was also over rather quickly.
Tom Mason gets blocked off by some rocks to meet the mother Alien. Oh my. The bioweapon killing it wasn't even impressive. Then everything bad explodes.

The quick background about about the Espheni Princess(?) being defeated by primitives on Earth 1500 years old is perhaps the most jawdroppingly bad piece of writing I have seen on an international TV station drama broadcast for many years. Surely the Espheni would have had great tech back then too. They were already space travelers who had conquered worlds. By adding the few sentences about this they made the episode worse. Why bother adding some emotional reason to the attack of earth? They were attacking worlds anyway, so why make this about revenge on the Incas or whoever was responsible.

A big chunk of the episode then is the ultimate soap opera happy ending. I'm surprised they didn't have some reformed skitters in suits too.

To be fair the actors did a decent job with what they had. The writers should work on Days of Our Lives (if anything).

I can see it. They probably didn't have enough left in the budget for a tailor -- all those limbs!

Really? Setting the bar a little high for these guys with the soap. I would opt for the "if anything." How about a grocery list?:D

Oh yeah, and the motor cyclist did a good copy of the idiot biologist in Prometheus by getting close to the alien baby sack. Very good.

One review I read is called "To the inept go the spoils" :D
