Started off as bank teller, then into saving another race

I have tried for a long time to find the title of this book.

He starts of in a bank as a teller who has trouble adding up his figures at the end of the day, then suddenly everything becomes very easy.

Story then goes into another world where an alien uses telepathy to summon it's victims.

Hope someone out there remembers this.

Sounds like One Against Time by Aston del Martia. I don't remember the aliens but the principle character was a bank clerk whose brain was altered from the future (so he suddenly became hyper-intelligent).

It does start off the same way, but I don't think it is the same book.

Don't think the one I read had any time travel in it, but I could be wrong.
